Home to Boeing, many of the company's managers and executives built homes in the Normandy Park, Three Tree Point and adjoining neighborhoods in the south end of Seattle during the heyday of Classic Modern. Although industry has cooled somewhat, the homes remain and the South End now has some of the most affordable mid-century modern homes in the metropolitan area.

Although historically an industrial area, South Seattle is changing rapidly. The SoDo area is home to the state-of-the-art sports stadiums of Safeco and Quest Fields. The draw of these stadiums has led to substantial growth in restaurants, breweries, wineries and even vodka distilleries. There is also a large number of art and design shops that live under the umbrella of the enormous Seattle Design Center.

The vibe is urban industrial and that aesthetic can be found in the live-work spaces being carved out of many of the old industrial and warehouse buildings in the area.
