Biography

Ethan has been immersed in South Sound Real Estate since 2003, working closely with Buyers and Sellers of residential, condominium and commercial properties of all shapes and sizes. He has been a student of architecture for the last three decades, drawn to architecturally significant buildings since growing up in Brooklyn, NY and Louisville, KY -- with an early fascination for the work of Frank Lloyd Wright encouraged by a distant family tie.

Moving west in the early 90’s, Ethan quickly developed an appreciation for the modern genre. That appreciation, coupled with a long-held belief in all things sustainable, bring him here today, an enthusiastic supporter of 360 modern and a dedicated proponent of the benefits of modern living.

Ethan’s approach to the real estate business, acting more as a consultant and adviser than as a salesman, has translated into happy clients and strong relationships over time. Ethan inherently understands the reality that purchasing or selling a home is more personal and more significant than most transactions we encounter in life, and takes the time to work closely with his clients, be they buying or selling. Along with his singular hands on approach, Ethan is driven by caffeine, a general fondness for people, the skills gained via a UW MBA, an attraction to beautiful buildings, a tireless wit, the Spanish language, a love of learning, a well traveled world view and a deep appreciation for tacos.

Q & A

Q: If you could have dinner with any modern living or dead architect, who would it be and what kinds of questions would you ask?
A: Frank Lloyd Wright - I'd be interested in learning more about why he made the decisions he made throughout his life and what drove him at various phases.
Q: How did you get started in modern real estate and what was your driving force for joining 360 Modern?
A: I've been drawn to architecture since I was a child and as I've grown and learned I've narrowed my focus and interest. I grew up on the East coast and down south and accordingly was surrounded and spoiled by beautiful older buildings, so many of which seem to have intriguing oddities. My fathers house in Brooklyn for instance, was a stop on the underground railroad and is filled with hiding places. I guess it's the personality of the structures that call to me. Moving to Tacoma, I encountered modern architecture for the first time on a regular basis and was pulled in by how different yet beautiful it is compared to what I've known before.

A: Sizing up a buyer is a combination of formal and informal q&a process - I tell my Buyers that oftentimes they don't start out knowing exactly what it is they want. I too have a learning curve with each and every Buyer as I come to understand who they are, what's important to them, and how they'll live in the home.
